With a 100-year family history, Russell Morin Catering & Events has applied their hospitality expertise to some of the most high-profile weddings and events in the southern New England area—such as the International Tennis Hall of Fame dinners and the Newport Jazz Festival. Ready for an updated way to connect with prospects and customers on the web, RM approached us and our web development partners, Clearbold, to redesign their site to better serve their brand, business goals, and customer needs.
While the project didn't include a full brand redesign, we helped our client evolve their logo and established a new visual language and brand voice as a foundation for the website work. We assembled a mood board to facilitate discussion about the new visual language and to serve as a pivotal design tool.
In addition to learning about the company's internal business and services, we conducted interviews with the entire sales & event planning staff to learn about their customers. This research provided the basis for customer personas, site architecture, content strategy, and page wireframes.
Weddings are the primary focus—and lion's share—of the business at Russel Morin Catering & Events. We learned that, not surprisingly, this service is THE most personalized service relationship they have with their customers. We leveraged this as one of our client's competitive advantages and emphasized their expertise and high level of service through an editorial/advisory approach to content. The "exclusive venues" template system we designed is also adaptable to other special projects and collaborations. Here, we promoted Ananda, a unique, Indian wedding experience that they created in partnership with Chef Sanjiv Dhar.
